elvis fan focus

There are many people who love Elvis and his music, many people who think Elvis is just all right and some people who don't even understand his appeal. Those people often ask me, "Why do you like Elvis?"

I fell in love with Elvis at first look. The first time I saw him, it was 1992. I can remember that evening very well. It was a hot summer holiday evening in grandmother's house. We always met our cousin there. She was, and still is, a nice girl who always knew what to say to make people around her happy.

That summer, she was talking about Elvis to my sister and me every day. Then one evening, we turned on the TV and there was Elvis singing his songs. You could see the wonder and big smile on my sister's and cousin's faces. At that time I was much more interested watching their faces then watching Elvis's concert.

But a few days later everything had changed. My cousin began to read the book "Elvis and Me" by Pricilla Presley. We read it every night. I was more and more interested in the story and Elvis himself that I could very easily see how my heart began to beat for Elvis. After we read that book I fell in love with Elvis forever.

Since then I can still feel Elvis' warm heart, gentle mind, and energetic spirit. I can read about his generous, helpful hands, funny jokes and what he did about his shy personality and that all makes him so cute! That summer changed my life. I began shopping for Elvis' music and Elvis' "stuff."

I love Elvis' music because of Elvis voice, which can sing everything. Because of the great musicians who played with him. Because I can always find some song which will help me get up when I am down. Or just because of Elvis himself. I am so thankful for that summer night when I "met" Elvis.

I was just 12 years old in 1992, so I could not meet Elvis in person. Yes, sometimes I am sad that I missed seeing Elvis driving around Memphis. I will never see his concert live and I will be not able to give him a big hug or to tell him thank you very much for everything that he did for other fans and me.

But then I remind myself of the other great fans all around the world. Our Czech fan club and all my nice friends there who make a magazine every two months to show us news from Elvis world. I remind myself of all the dance parties with Elvis music and his great spirit and I am ready to walk on with a smiling face again
